Brixton Recreation Centre WiFi installation

Brixton Recreation Centre WiFi Installation for Lambeth Council

Public-sector WiFi infrastructure delivered in a live leisure environment

Connex Network Solutions supported the delivery planning for a major WiFi installation at Brixton Recreation Centre, working alongside Virgin Media and Lambeth Council. The site included multiple public areas, challenging cable routes, high-level access constraints, and a clear need to keep disruption tightly controlled while delivering dependable public WiFi infrastructure.

Project Summary

This project required a new WiFi installation across a busy, multi-use leisure site. Connex developed a practical, buildable approach covering cabinet locations, structured cabling, fibre links, containment, access point installation, switch hardware support, and final testing and handover.

Scope of Works

  • Survey and planning for 70 WiFi access points
  • 6 new wall-mounted cabinets
  • New CAT6 and OM4 cabling throughout the site
  • New containment routes across the building
  • Links between cabinets and access point locations
  • Day works and night works to suit access restrictions
  • Full testing, labelling, drawings, and handover documentation

Technical Delivery

The site demanded careful planning around existing cabinet links, available power, WAN connectivity, and the practical realities of working at height in active sports and leisure areas. Connex balanced the design intent with real-world site conditions, using a mix of day and night working to reduce disruption and keep the project buildable.

Results

  • A practical delivery plan for a large public-sector WiFi rollout
  • Installation strategy tailored to live-site access constraints
  • Clear standards for fibre and copper testing, labelling, and documentation
  • A coordinated approach built around public use, safety, and programme control
Manchester Royal Infirmary bedside TV upgrade

Manchester Royal Infirmary Bedside TV Upgrade

Major live-hospital installation delivered at serious scale

Connex Network Solutions was appointed to deliver a major bedside TV upgrade at Manchester Royal Infirmary Hospital, helping transform patient entertainment services across a large live clinical environment. This substantial programme covered existing bedside unit upgrades, new installations, power and data cabling, fibre backbone works, vending changes, testing, certification, and project management across a busy hospital site.

Project Summary

This was a hospital-wide rollout across dozens of wards and clinical areas, combining upgrade and new-build elements in one coordinated programme. Every phase had to be planned around the realities of an active healthcare environment, where access, safety, coordination, and disruption control matter just as much as the installation itself.

Scope of Works

  • 276 existing bedside unit upgrades
  • 470 new bedside TV installations where power already existed
  • 359 new full bedside TV installations where no power existed
  • New fibre backbone cabling and associated data cabling
  • Electrical works, testing, commissioning, and documentation
  • Vending machine removal, replacement, and upgrade works
  • Dedicated project management throughout

Technical Delivery

Connex delivered a full package including removal of existing back plates, installation of new bedside TV units and bed boards where required, earthing, new power and data cabling, fibre links back to the main server location, containment routing, testing, commissioning, and handover documentation. The works were phased carefully to suit live clinical operations and restricted-access conditions.

Results

  • A structured upgrade programme delivered across a sensitive live healthcare environment
  • Coordinated power, data, fibre, and containment works under one delivery package
  • Strong compliance through full testing, certification, and as-installed documentation
  • Reliable project control across multiple wards, workstreams, and installation methods
Hub by Premier Inn Marylebone network infrastructure installation

Hub by Premier Inn Marylebone Network Infrastructure Installation

Hotel network infrastructure delivery across a multi-floor live accommodation environment

Connex Network Solutions supported Virgin Media on a major network infrastructure installation for Hub by Premier Inn in London Marylebone. The project covered CAT6 termination, fibre backbone cabling, remote cabinet installation, client-supplied wireless access point hardware, testing, labelling, and project management across a 294-room hotel spanning 15 floors.

Project Summary

This was a substantial hotel connectivity project designed to deliver reliable in-room and back-of-house network infrastructure across lower ground to 13th floor. Connex developed a coordinated delivery plan covering existing CAT6 termination, new fibre links, remote cabinet installation, and wireless access point deployment, all aligned to Virgin Media’s design and site programme.

Scope of Works

  • Termination, testing, and labelling of 882 CAT6 cables
  • Supply and installation of 4 remote 29U cabinets with PDUs
  • OM4 8-core fibre backbone links between the main comms room and remote cabinets
  • Installation of 143 client-supplied wireless access points
  • Additional cabling to F&B areas for WiFi connectivity
  • Supply and installation of CAT6 and LC fibre patch leads
  • Testing, commissioning, and project handover documentation

Technical Delivery

The hotel required a structured approach across multiple cabinet locations serving different floor groupings. Connex used existing containment where possible, fusion-spliced fibre terminations to minimise link loss, and compliance-tested the fibre and copper infrastructure to recognised standards. The programme also demanded careful coordination with the main contractor, cabinet suppliers, and site teams to keep the works practical and efficient.

Results

  • A scalable hotel cabling infrastructure across 15 floors and 294 rooms
  • Reliable backbone connectivity between the main comms room and remote cabinets
  • Consistent testing, labelling, and documentation for handover
  • A coordinated installation approach supporting hotel WiFi and room connectivity requirements
Multi-site hotel network infrastructure programme

Multi-Site Hotel Connectivity & Infrastructure Programme

Large-scale hotel technology rollouts across live accommodation environments

Connex Network Solutions has supported a wide range of hotel infrastructure projects across the UK and Europe, delivering cabling, WiFi, fibre backbone, cabinet installation, survey work, hardware deployment, and upgrade programmes in live guest environments. Drawing across projects for Travelodge, Hub by Premier Inn, Hoxton, Malmaison, and Kilworth House, this body of work demonstrates Connex’s ability to deliver practical hotel technology installations at both single-site and national rollout level.

Project Summary

These projects covered everything from bedroom and back-of-house cabling through to wireless access point deployment, fibre interlinks, cabinet upgrades, ePOS enabling works, RF and WiFi surveys, Starlink and 4G hardware installations, and structured rectification works. The common challenge was consistent: deliver reliable infrastructure in hotels that remain operational, customer-facing, and commercially sensitive throughout the programme.

Scope of Works

  • Structured cabling, CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, coaxial, and fibre installations
  • WiFi access point, Juniper, Meraki, and client-supplied hardware deployment
  • Remote and wall-mounted cabinet supply, installation, upgrade, and tidy-up works
  • RF, Ekahau, and post-installation survey services
  • ePOS enabling works, backup link installations, and guest-to-corporate connectivity upgrades
  • Starlink service installation and decommissioning across hotel estates
  • Testing, labelling, reporting, certification, and handover documentation

Technical Delivery

Hotel environments demand careful coordination. Connex planned works around guest occupancy, front-of-house sensitivity, restricted working windows, and the need to minimise disruption while maintaining programme momentum. Across these projects, the delivery model combined survey-led design, practical route planning, standards-based testing, cabinet and containment management, and phased installation methods suited to active hospitality sites.

Results

  • Proven delivery capability across both one-off hotel projects and national multi-site rollout programmes
  • Reliable integration of cabling, fibre, wireless, cabinets, and hardware under one contractor
  • Minimal-disruption working practices suited to live guest and staff environments
  • Clear documentation, compliance testing, and structured handover across varied project types
